A Digital Wake-up Call: Why India Needs Its Own Mobile OS

Recent app removals from the Google Play Store serve as a stark reminder of our vulnerability under foreign tech dominance. It's time for India to build its own mobile operating system (OS) to secure its digital future.

The Problem: Dependence and Vulnerability

The recent removal of popular Indian apps like BharatMatrimony, Jeevansathi, Naukri.com, and Shaadi.com highlights the risks of relying on foreign tech platforms. While compliance with regulations is crucial, concerns remain about the potential for disruptions to essential services like UPI or Aadhar due to arbitrary decisions by these platforms.

The Solution: Building Our Own Path

India needs to embrace technological sovereignty and develop its own mobile OS. This requires investing in research and development to create a robust ecosystem that caters to our specific needs and values. An indigenous OS will not only:

  • Guarantee the security and stability of our digital infrastructure: This reduces the risk of disruptions due to external factors.
  • Empower Indian developers and businesses: It fosters innovation and economic growth by reducing dependence on foreign platforms and mitigating the risk of unilateral actions.
  • Enhance data privacy and security: An indigenous OS allows for greater control over how user data is handled, addressing a critical concern in the digital age.

The Call to Action: Seize the Opportunity

Developing our own mobile OS is not just about technological advancement; it's about asserting our digital sovereignty and safeguarding the interests of our nation and its citizens.

Challenges and Perseverance

While the need for an indigenous mobile OS is undeniable, the journey towards its successful implementation won't be a walk in the park. Here are two key challenges to consider:

  • Hardware Compatibility: Achieving widespread adoption necessitates global support for the OS. Integrating seamlessly with existing hardware ecosystems dominated by established players will require significant effort and collaboration. The current, well-oiled logistics and supply chain infrastructure heavily lean towards existing platforms, demanding innovative solutions to ensure compatibility.
  • App Developer Ecosystem: Building a thriving app ecosystem is crucial for any mobile OS. Encouraging app developers to adopt the new platform will require robust developer tools, comprehensive documentation, and potentially, incentives. This process takes time and dedicated effort to ensure a rich and diverse app landscape.

Despite these challenges, India's potential in the technology sector is immense. By acknowledging these hurdles and approaching them with strategic planning and unwavering determination, we can pave the way for a secure and self-reliant digital future.

Do all ANTIVIRUS companies research independently ?

1.   Ever wondered how a Antivirus signature is made? Not so difficult actually....the answer goes like you detect a virus and then make a anti dote for that and subsequently release it as a signature. But as you think at a slightly larger level...i mean signatures being released by various antivirus companies for the same virus.Does each antivirus company re invent the wheel for each virus every time a new virus is detected..... Do they actually work differently to first find and then create a signature separately....Are all the viruses/malware's created by various hackers and agencies detected independently by all these antivirus companies?I doubt...!!!!But if my doubt is incorrect, then it is a SAD issue.....Because with the speed of population explosion of these various malware's and viruses....there can not be so many separate fighters and if there is one way to fight this gigantic threat...these all antivirus companies have to fight together...We should indeed realize that the threat is not individually existing to you and me but it exists to US...ie not United States...but you and me together ie ALL OF US....:-)

2.  But fighting together will not be so easy as the Economics of this War will defy competition ...so is there a need of funding at national level or at cross country level? Will it one day become a UN issue....ha ha ha!...like poverty..food scarcity and other issues being undertaken by UN,will there be a day when UN funds these antivirus companies because global dependency on IT is increasing and so are all vulnerable to so many threats.....:-)

3.   The earlier this is made a common issue...the more safer will the world become in future...because this threat is common to world...so should be the solution...

Mobiles & Brain Cancer : WHO Speaks.

1. In an earlier post at http://anupriti.blogspot.com/2009/10/radiation-effects-ur-mobile-quantified.html,wherein the sad and bad effects of using mobiles on brain and health, the quantified SAR ie specific absorption rate were discussed. There is good news for those who always feared using mobile phones for standing at a risk to gain brain cancer in the long run.The WHO study on links between mobile phone use and certain types of brain cancer has proved inconclusive. The researchers said that even though there could be possible health risks from heavy mobile phone use, nothing conclusive has been found as yet.

2. The long ten year study of about 13,000 people focused on both healthy users of mobile phones and those with two types of brain cancer - glioma and miningioma tumors. There were suggestions of an increased risk of glioma, and much less so meningioma, in the users with highest decile (10 per cent) of cumulative call time, in subjects who reported phone use on the same side of the head as their tumor. Strangely though, the study declares these 10 per cent to be people who use their phone to call for more than 30 minutes a day. These stats seem seriously doubtable. Going by it, almost everyone we know is in that 10 percent.

3. However, the study has been criticized, as biased, because mobile phone companies provided 25 percent of the funding.Actually...now it is more then 15 years when the world has been actively using mobiles...more so in india in last 10 years....had it been the other way...how much of the human populi in the world would have been effected by now....
