Beyond Coding: Unveiling India's Aatmanirbharta by Nurturing Civic Consciousness

1.    As the digital landscape of India continues to evolve, with advancements in technology reshaping the nation's socioeconomic fabric, it's crucial to recognize that progress extends beyond the realms of IT. Amidst the fervent pursuit of innovation and economic growth, lies a silent yet critical determinant of our collective destiny: civic consciousness. In this blog post, I pivot my focus from IT peculiarities to a broader societal imperative – the pressing need to cultivate a robust civic sense. Let's delve into few prevalent instances undermining India's path towards Aatmanirbharta, shedding light on the pivotal role of civic awareness in shaping our nation's future.

2.    Civic sense encompasses a broad spectrum of behaviours and attitudes that contribute to the smooth functioning of society. It involves:

  • Littering
  • Traffic violations(huh!!You try driving in a Indian City)
  • Vandalism
  • Disregard for public hygiene (spitting, urinating in public)
  • Illegal encroachments on public land
  • Noise pollution
  • Disrespectful behavior in public (.....is a proud moment)
  • Defacement of public property (graffiti, posters)
  • Non-adherence to queueing norms
  • Disrespectful behavior towards public servants
  • Disregard for public safety regulations

4.    In essence, it's the glue that holds the fabric of society together.

5.    Unfortunately, despite strides in various sectors, India continues to grapple with a deficit in civic sense. As India marches towards Aatmanirbharta, it's paramount to recognize that economic self-reliance alone cannot guarantee a prosperous future. The realization of this ambitious vision hinges upon the collective commitment of every citizen towards nurturing a robust civic sense.

6.    Efforts to cultivate civic consciousness must begin at the grassroots level, encompassing education, public awareness campaigns, community initiatives, and policy interventions. Schools play a pivotal role in instilling values of citizenship and social responsibility in the younger generation, laying the groundwork for a more enlightened society.

7.    Moreover, fostering a culture of accountability and civic engagement requires concerted efforts from all stakeholders – government bodies, civil society organizations, businesses, and individuals alike. It demands a paradigm shift wherein civic sense becomes not just a moral obligation but a cornerstone of national identity in character.

8.    So, while economic prosperity is undeniably crucial, it is incomplete without a strong foundation of civic sense. As we aspire towards Aatmanirbharta, let us not overlook the significance of nurturing responsible, conscientious citizens who embody the true spirit of self-reliance. Only then can we truly realize the vision of a progressive, harmonious, and resilient India by 2047.

DATA CENTER's : THE INDIAN SCENE

1.   The phenomenal growth of data in India is rapidly evolving but where is all that data being stored?.....not a big deal to find out that all your FB profiles, your friends list, Google hangout circle of friends and all the enumerable social networking sites on the web stores your data across the globe but not in India....yes that's the truth...every bit of data that your profile holds is actually residing off shores ...what India might be holding is just logs of transaction via various monitoring eyes like CMS as discussed in last post!!!

2.   But actually what debar's any big company with a global presence to set up a data center in apna India...recently there have a explosion of many posts across the web o sphere citing the query of why is it so?...the reasons cited culminate on one reason and that's known as SECURITY....the non existence of "DATA PRIVACY LAWs" in India.....more over the fact that there is presently no existence of GIS routing of laid OFCs and cables maps though there are always plans and proposals for the future. The problem of underground OFC in and around NCR is such that companies are afraid to commit 100% availability of up time because your OFC can get damaged any time owing to so many under construction sites in NCR with dozers digging out OFC like Hollywood monsters. And these diggings are ever to continue coz still there are no laid down GIS mappings that can accurately predict the route and depth of laid out OFCs....and the most important I feel is the promise of state ELECTRIC POWER supply which is surely unreliable during any season....it is indeed surprising that power is still an issue in NCR towns!!!

3.   The future will always remains bright because we always have plans to remove all these problem areas but how and when remains a futuristic answer.GIS routing of cables is an imminent need and so are the data protection laws.By default as on date most of the data centres are coming up in Singapore.

"Singapore offers an ideal combination of reliable infrastructure, a skilled workforce and a commitment to transparent and business-friendly regulations" is how Google explains its choice of the city. Oracle cites "excellent telecommunications infrastructure and efficient, well-qualified manpower".

Much like India set up software technology parks to nurture its IT services and BPO industry, Singapore is setting up a 13-hectare Data Center Park and inviting companies from across the world. It already has some 20 data centre hubs and offers tax and other incentives.

DRDO HACKED : NO....YESS...NO...YESS!!!!goes on...

1.    Now nothing new about this news....its just another hacking news among-st the millions of hacking news and scrolls daily....but it has become an eye popper because it has the word DRDO in it..... that's the Defence Research and Development Organisation.

2.   Though DRDO straight away denies it that it can never happen(whats the basis behind is a well guarded secret...)...but Pawan Duggal,a known Cyber Expert says that never in the history of "India Hacked" past has such voluminous data transferred and resided in servers outside the country borders.....video down here

3.    The hacking is suspected to have been carried out by Chinese hackers and there are fears that some sensitive information could have been compromised. When asked about it, Defence Minister A K Antony said, "Intelligence agencies are investigating the matter at this stage and I do not want to say anything else."

Commenting on the issue, DRDO spokesperson Ravi Gupta said, "As per our information, no computer or network of the DRDO has been compromised."(Offcourse they have records to prove that all sentries and guards were on duty at the moment hackers claim they hacked DRDO....pun intended SIR!!!!!)

4.     Today things in context of Cyber Security at national level stand at a very critical juncture...infact I feel that juncture is past now....we are already late...but still we read and hear that Cyber Security Policy of India will arrive soon.....(i know cut paste also takes time....pun intended!!!!!)..READ HERE

5. India I am sure will keep busy with hiding elephants......jantar mantar.......elections...2014....italy guards.....bhagwan etc etc...but if the priorities don't change the order soon...India will be backed up and downloaded in some other country sooon....it will be veri sad...we are one of the leaders in IT industry....specially software but we have not been able to exploit this potential for in house strengthening...we are all concerned for individual growth...vo subah kabhi to aaayegi....vo subah kabhi to aaayegi!!!!!

India developing own Secure OS to strengthen Cyber Security

1.   India is developing own secure OS to strengthen cyber security.Got this news piece from here. The key points from the news are :

- India's own secure operating system to strengthen cyber security.

- 150 Engineers across the country have already been working on creating an Indian OS for over one year and a half.

- According to Times of India ,it will be ready in next three years.

- There is no foreign involvement in this project. It is purely build by Indians.

2.   It is indeed heartening to know all this...but whats the point? Does the team of 150 engineers and the vision behind think they are creating a secure and 100% fool proof OS?...The moment it is released...there will be many vulnerabilities that will be gradually known...and then the same cat mouse race will being like with any other OS..so whats the point of starting from scratch?....will it not be wise to securify existing opensource available and invest in something like improving upon existing resources?.....Case in point, the DESI OS....will lag behind in terms of experiences gained by Windows and other OS Communities who have been in the game for years...........who have been improving daily for so many years!!!like Fedora...Ubuntu...they have been improving for last so many years to reach a level like as on date available to us....

3.  Although it is a veri good thought to have a desi OS....but I sincerely feel that we are slightly late in realizing the need of a desi OS...

Bulk SMS Ban : Carry on India

1.    The government has recently banned bulk SMS and MMS messages for 15 days in view of the exodus of people from the northeast from cities like Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad, following rumours that they would be attacked.

2.    Now how do u feel about this ban?...do u think it is going to be effective?.....certainly not if it were actually the bulk sms that did the damage.Does'nt the govt know about various sites offering these services of bulk sms for free on a simple registration? or do they not know about various smart phones applications that can still send bulk sms via a different mode.Is it not known to them that this ban is going to be effective for pre paid owners only?....and not for post paid owners.

3.    These orders come like axing the problem instead of putting in efforts to manage it. Read the following paragraph@http://www.hindustantimes.com

"The five-SMS-per-day cap is adversely affecting a group of unsuspecting victims, the hearing impaired.A deaf individual sends up to 250 messages per day on an average as it is their only mode of conversation. "The five SMS cap is a real pain for us. It is the only way I can stay in touch with my family or friends when I go to college. If I want to have a proper conversation with someone, I have to send at least 50 messages. It is easy for people who can call and stay in touch. For us, this is the only mode that boosts our mobility. It is insensitive of the government to discount the deaf community when they take these decisions," said Mahesh P, a hearing impaired Delhi University student."

4.   Everi one knows that it is wrong...it is not effective...but hey come on ...carry on INDIA....it is just another passe...

INSPIRED FROM INDIA : CHINAs ATTEMPT ON TAKING ON CORRUPTION

1.    In recent last few months,a lot has been happening in India in form of anshans, demonstrations, dharna's to bring back the black money freezing in swizz banks and to reduce corruption...so far so good...the spark happened and is now gradually bowing to the Government which ensure and loves STATUS QUO.....atleast thier wasy of working confirms this....instead of supporting the movement...they took the key persons involved head on and now in another about a week or so we will be back to STATUS QUO...

2.    But China's esurient Internet users are taking a leaf from India's anti-corruption drama by opening websites so citizens can confess, sometimes in pitiless detail, to buying off officials.Several Chinese confess-a-bribe websites, including "I Made a Bribe" (www.ibribery.com), have been inspired by an Indian website "I paid a bribe" (ipaidabribe.com)......china ranks 78th in the corruption list whereas we list at the 87th rank...m sure it is much worse.....apna nahee to kisi aur ka to bhala hoga........jai ho INDIAAAAAAAAAA

3.     Thanks http://www.reuters.com
