1. There is no doubt that I have keen interest in cyber security issues and subjects.I stop anywhere I find some thing to read or see articles / videos related to cyber security...always grab opportunities like workshops and seminars that hold related events. But just reading and going through these was not going to be enough to make a small mark in the field. Thus I decided to go for a certification exam.Came across CISSP,CCIE,Comp-TIA etc....which were slightly heavier on pocket :-)...so looked for a Indian version and equivalent that is not only recognized but also accepted in government organisations. So I enrolled for the exam in the month of Dec 2011 last year.....and got the results last week....and I passed....became a CDAC Certified Cyber Security Professional. The list of certified professionals is given at the link http://esikshak.in/eSikshak/professional_certified.html
2. So in this post I am going to tell you few key features of this informative and excellent course :
- Name : CCCSP ie CDAC Certified Cyber Security Professional
- Duration : 6 months
- Certification Fees : Rs 7500/-
- Conducted By : CDAC,Hyderabad
- Written test conducted at identified CDAC centres across India.
- Duration of the test is 2 hours.
- Two sections, 80% of objective type and 20% of subjective in the examination paper .
- 60% score in each section must required
- The minimum score to get professional certification on average is 70%.
3. More details available about this course at http://esikshak.in/eSikshak/help/English/eSikshak/CCCSP.html
4. The certificate issued by C-DAC on CCCSP (C-DAC Certified Cyber Security Professional) is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. This is introduced, considering the importance of updating on-self on the latest security issues.
5. Thanks CDAC,Hyderabad.
very interesting

ReplyDeleteI have just begun my career in an mnc but really want to go in cyber security, can you tell me how to begin a career in this field and will this certification really help me in future.
ReplyDeletehi nishant, since you have just begun...the best thing would be to go for an international certification viz cissp, comptia, cisa and so many....CCCSP is the indian version of the security certification that is well accepted in India...but i would recommend you to go for either of the certifications as mentioned above and keep reading white papers. Also a membership with cyber society of india,IETE,Institution of engineers or Computer society of india would go a long way in building your identity in this field....or mail me for more such courses...regards...anupam
ReplyDeleteHello Anupam,
ReplyDeleteWell, I have completed my MCA and I have also completed the Ankit Fadia Certified Ethical Hacker(AFCEH 4.0) exam successfully.
How difficult/simple, according to you, will it be to crack the CCCSP exam?
Thanks in Advance,
Jairav.
Hi jairav, your MCA will be helpful in giving you the required background and would assist you w.r.t the software coding essentials in backdrop of security and ur AFCEH would definitely make you stronger to clear the exam if u haven't had a long break between your afceh and the CCCSP exam..i recommend that if you have recently(within 6 months to one year)done ur afceh...then attempt the CCCSP soon with a 10-15 day preparation dug into their course material...send me your email id ..will send u few sample questions that i have....
DeleteThanks a lot for your reply. My email id is desaijairav@gmail.com
DeleteHi Amupam. Thanks for this informative post. Can you plz share those sample question to me also? my id is onlynimal{at}gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance.
sent buddy at ur email :-) all the best
DeleteHey, can you send me the sample questions Please. My id is vivek.jain1603@gmail.com, and i also wanted to ask that how did you prepare for this course. Do they provide the tutorials or you self-studied all the things and can you please give some tips on preparation. Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Vivek
the file is sent buddy...but these questions are about an year old now....not sure about the pattern cdac follows now...they provide relevant study material for reference that actually serve as pick up points...not straight from the book..but veri helpful for a guideline reference..u need to build upon the reference material...since the ref material covers most of it but some bit of digging is required at your end for each topic....
ReplyDelete@Anupam T : Sir I am a Post graduate in Mass Communication in S&T and have a huge interest in this field and already did a dissertation project on "COMPUTING ETHICS". Respected Sir,
ReplyDeleteIf i do high end eccouncil courses then how will i get a job and what is the freshers salary.
hi bro,it depends what way r u planning to move via.If you r planning to get into some govt sector...then u need to have a background with indian university education...like CCCSP,GUjrat forensics cyber courses and there are many as on date.If u r planning to move into pvt sector then off course EC Council leads.Cert-in is one agency u can enquire...i have few freinds who have gone with msc computers and CCCSP like qualifications....
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI have a 15 months Linux Administrator experience in the hosting industry, I am interested in the C-Dac course, but firstly I want to know about the pattern of the exam, and want to that how much beneficial for me according to my exp.
And kindly send me the exam questions format on my email id: robin_jain5@yahoo.com.
Thanks
Regards
Robin
I want to mentioned one more thing that I am RHCE and CEH certified
DeleteRegards
Robin
Hi robin, seems like your other comment could not be published..but i got it vide email..so the pattern you wanted to know is 80% credits based on objective and 20% is a subjective type question. The course is good from point of view of building upon cyber security know how and onus of going deep remains with you to become an expert. If you want to take cyber security as a career option...this can be your first step since CEH is more concerned finding the vulnerabilities..while this CCCSP gives you the complete attack surface overview and all nodes involved.Looking at your profile that has linux and CEH as ingredients,I feel you would be able to sail through the certification provided you cover the syllabus as defined. Will send you the sample at your email id!!!! Being a beginner, you would realize that cyber security career as on date is only getting brighter and the future is as big as you can think of!!!!see the national cyber security policy to get future plans of our sarkaar!!!!(released recently)
ReplyDeleteHalo Sir,
ReplyDeleteI am a software professional with 6 yrs of experience. What will be the job opportunities if I take up this course. Please note that I do not have any working experience related to this or in networks.
Thank you.
Regards,
Bharath
Hi bharath,A
DeleteA single course on cyber security like CCCSP may not entitle or guarantee you a job,but yes this is going to give u a platform,a recognition that you can exploit by continuously keeping yourself abreast on the subject...it is off course your working skills that matter to a company.Certificates are meant to validate your skills!!!!and from point of validation this is a government recognized course which has good value in market and govt organisation.....
regards,
Anupam

ReplyDeletehi bro,,there are no previous question papers but only thing available is few sample questions ,regards...anupam
DeleteHi Anupam,
ReplyDeleteI have about 7 years of experience in SAP. I always had interest in cyber security related courses but hadn't got an opportunity to join some course.. I am planning to do so now. I am a bit confused with lot of courses like the current one which C-DAC offers and i also saw few courses for Ethical hacking etc. Would you be kind enough to distinguish between the Ethical hacking course and the current one and also let me know what other courses can be done post completion of this so that i can take up this line as my mainstream. My email id is premkumarwow@gmail.com.. Thanks bro..
hi prem..i would recommend that you do a basic cyber security course first and then depending on your interest in either of the 10 domains you can move ahead further in your career...may be first you can attempt this or a more simpler ASCL cyber security course....and then you latch on the ethical hacking course.IT Security has 10 domains.CCCSP prepares you with a generic all 10 domains subjects while the ethical hacking course get slightly specific to penetration testing and exploiting known vulnerabilities and limit you to may be a pen tester..but it all depends on how you plan your way ahead depending on your subjects of interest.IN case generic cyber security interests you there is a plethora in open source to improve your skills. The other courses offered can be checked at http://anupriti.blogspot.in/2012/12/cyber-security-courses-in-india.html
Deletehello sir, My name is Tony Sam Thomas (2013 btech CS), I want to know about Ethical Hacking Courses in India.I'm looking forward to have a career in Information/Cyber Security. What are the options available for the same? I request your kind help. Thank You.
ReplyDeletehi tony, you are at the best age to start getting into professional cyber security domain....now that you have done BTech in CS...you can plan to do a PG in cyber security from some institute like IIIT allahabad or chennai...and start focusing on certifications and lots of on hands practise on open source tools...to name a few you can get better on handling basic linux and then take on backtrack..metasploit etc.All of this is open source and there is no end to good information.Start practicing on virtual box..see videos from you tube and try the famous ms08_067api xp hack to get a taste of whats it all about....from certification point of view work this out cccsp, cissp, ceh, comptia courses on cyber security.CSA offers a cloud security course....actually no end...get back to me if you need some help in understanding what i have written above.
DeleteSir I didnt take Gate exam this year and to get admission in PG courses(Mtech) at these institutes, its very difficult. So now i'm looking for short term courses available. OR is PG a must that to have a good future in Information/Cyber Security field??
ReplyDeleteI'm confused at this.
IF we choose short term specialization courses, which is the best?
Pls Rply

DeleteHi, Anupam,
ReplyDeleteBeing an auditor i would like to know that dies Does this course helps me in doing IT audit of banks or other organisations. and what is the difference between cccs and cccsp. I may be replied to my mail id madan_cisa@yahoo.com
Hi! Anupam,
ReplyDeleteI am Ajay, I am working as a Hardware Design Engineer for the last 2.5 years. Although all my interest lies only in network security, hacking, pen-testing, learning or at least to get to know the defensive and offensive technique's that's out there and keep myself constantly updated with the news about cyber-crime occurrences throughout the world. These things really get me excited. So far I have been learning on my own at home (Backtrack in VMware, Python Lang, reading various Blogs and news related to Cyber security). But I wasn't satisfied. So i decided to do MS in Cyber security(doing MS was always my dream) at fall 2014. But the pre requisite for entry into most of the Universities( Florida Institute of Tech, Johns Hopkins Univ, New York Poly Univ.., ) which i had selected so far were overwhelming (Criteria s like proficiency in discrete maths, calculus for cryptography, java, c++ for programming part) although its just a matter of time before i could fulfill many of these requirements if not all, what i really want is guidance from an expert to have a deep insight into this field, a better understanding before I could make this as my career. My mail ID is kadahsh AT GMAIL DOT COM. Your help is very much appreciated and really needed. Sorry for the lengthy post. Thanks in Advance!.
Hi Anupam,
ReplyDeleteI need guidance as to what should be the certifications to start and continue with in the field of Information Security and Ethical Hacking so that i can get into Government organizations like drdo/raw/any such organization.
I am 3 years experienced in IT industry in C++, UNIX and bit of DB SQL knowledge . I have Computer Science Engineering background. Your inputs might be of great Help . Thanks in Advance.
Hi,
DeleteInformation security is a buzzing field and has a magnet attraction for those who love this...so basically the cyber security has 10 domains...first of all you get hold of the basics of these domains...and from point of view of indian certifications that are recognized by government...like CDACs CCCSP and Institute of Forensic Science, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University has launched IT based certifications in:
1. Fraud Examination,
2. Information Security
3. Electronic Evidence Examination.
Besides being very affordable, these certifications feature:
1. Case study type questions that test practical application of knowledge
2. Transparent and easy to understand system for Continuing Professional Education
3. Renowned Subject Matter Experts
4. Conformity to ISO/IEC 17024:2012
additionaly there are institutes viz NIL,imt, jodhpur university and IIIT allahabad that offer certifications as well as PGs that are recognized...

HI Anupam,
ReplyDeleteI am taking up this course. Can you please share the sample questions to hemanth.452@gmail.com. That would be very helpful.. Thank you..
Hi Anupam,
ReplyDeleteI am Deepthi, after completing MCA I am working as a Software Test Engineer in an IT firm for the last 3 years.I wish to divert my career to Cyber security ,Cyber Law. Is CCCSP course is worth to start a career as Cyber Forensic professional ? Is it required to have prior experience in Information security field for taking certification CISSP ? If so which International certification should I take as a beginner in this field? What will be my career options?
Regards,
I am sure it will be one of the wisest decisions in ur life if u actually divert your career in the field of cyber security.First of all u need to decide between forensics and cyber security. Both have different routes to follow....and both have excellent roads in very near future. To start in the field of forensics you can opt for CFHI and graduate further from Gujrat forensics university.Dr M S Dahiya is a renowned personality in this field and spear heads this in India...for a start in cyber security...gfsu again offers many courses in cyber security also....CISSP will be nice to start with and there will be a long way to go ahead then on....COMPTIA can be follwed then on...cloud forensics is coming up soon..very interesting fields in these connected domains.....from point of view of career options...the demand is gradually rising in India too...outside india cyber security professionals are already in great demand...i foresee another about 4-5 years when India gets serious on the requirement of cyber security professionals....wish you all the best Deepthi...regards ...anupam
DeleteThank you Anupam for your advise . I heard that For getting CISSP, there should be minimum 5 years of relevant experience . Is that correct?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Deepthi
..And which course is better after getting a CEH cerification CHFI or ECSA ?Is these certifications required prior to the certification CISSP ?
ReplyDeleteHI deepthi...there is no certain certification that we can define being better..it is purely interest driven after you do CEH....specialization courses exist for cyber audit....forensics...security..ethical hacking...pentration testing etc....
Deletehi anupam
ReplyDeleteI am just compleated my BE in information science & engg.
I would like to choin in the C-DAC course CCCSP .Is it a good choice?
pls help me.
my email id : shanbr13@gmail.com
Hi shah...yes i think for a start it is very good choice...but then there a long way ahead after this...this course would put all the platters on one plate for you to decide which one to specialize in due course further..this will be kind of introductory course...being the first to introduce you to the various domains in cyber security....after you do this you will be more wiser to choose from a variety of courses offered in the market.....wishing you al d best
Deletein which cntre cccsp available? any eligibility or mark criteria is there? "On-line courseware offered through CDAC's e-learning website" what is this study method?
